| | Lead Software Engineer (Presentation Layer)OVERVIEW:
PlanetOut Inc. is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to help build the next generation social networking application.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design: Works within a team to design PlanetOut presentation layer applications that are efficient, scalable, maintainable, and accurately meet the needs of the business.
- Development: Works within a team to develop, refactor, and continuously improve various PlanetOut web applications and presentation layer services. Meets deadlines and handle multiple projects simultaneously.

This position is responsible for internal business systems, and desktop support internal to the company. The individual is required to demonstrate technical and managerial leadership, playing a vital role in the operation, implementation, and maintenance of the company's Information Technology and Telephony Functions.
The successful candidate will report directly to the VP of Technology Operations and is characterized by a high degree of professionalism, independence, reliability, initiative, and maturity.
MANAGEMENT REQUIREMENTS AND SUCCESS METRICS:
- Successfully manage diverse groups and individuals (multiple locations) within the helpdesk and First Line technology groups; provides strong leadership in understanding and resolving technical issues

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- 7+ years in Information Technology delivery, of which 3 or more must be at a management or leadership role (Exchange, Linux, Mac, Windows and Office)
- 3+ years administering and managing Telephony/PBX systems and/or facilities
- 2+ years of solid project management experience
- Experience in the print media industry preferred, as well as companion online services
- Advanced network and system monitoring to provide proactive maintenance
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills - motivating teams

PlanetOut's Integrated Marketing, Media sales team seeks a seasoned Promotion Manager to work with the Integrated Marketing Director to conceptualize and manage special events for all PlanetOut brands¿both signature branding events and those that fulfill added-value for advertisers across multiple print and digital properties.
The Promotion Manager's primary responsibility will be to ensure that all PlanetOut events and merchandising programs support, and are consistent with, the overall marketing objectives of Gay.com, PlanetOut.com, The Advocate, Out, The Out Traveler and HIV Plus, while also maintaining the highest level of client service.
SPECIFIC PROMOTIONS DUTIES:
Conceive and execute all experiential aspects of the following:
- Quality platform marketing events that serve PlanetOut objectives for Gay.com, PlanetOut.com, The Advocate, The Out Traveler, HIV Plus
magazines, and the magazines' associated digital properties.
- Added value for PlanetOut advertisers specifically in defined categories across all PlanetOut brand properties (categories include, but will not be limited to: Finance, Automotive, Grooming, Food and Beverage, Pharmaceutical, Entertainment, Recruitment and Technology).
- Enhance PlanetOut's image in the industry through efficient and organized execution of promotional efforts, along with creating a national presence for the brands in the community and beyond.
- Conceptualize and write defined category event promotions proposals, sponsorship contracts and merchandising recaps for advertisers, including management of design, layout, production and asset inclusion.
- Work with PlanetOut marketing staff to develop event marketing strategies that will reach advertiser's core marketing initiatives during the RFP process.
- Develop new and creative event and promotional outlets for the PlanetOut brands, and assemble organized presentation for ideas to marketing and sales (and editorial) staffs throughout the year and in organization of yearly calendar.
- Maintain event budgets as allotted and coordinate with vendors and partners in all event details to ensure most cost effective means of execution
- Liaise directly with advertising clients as PlanetOut representative during the sales process where necessary and throughout execution and recap
- Manage the design process and work with vendors to produce electronic and printed invitations, event signage, step-and-repeat banners, and any other collateral items needed for select event marketing and promotional programs in his/her categories
- Coordinate with sales representatives to ascertain promotional needs all advertisers in his/her categories and communicate these with marketing staff
- Work internally with production, circulation, distribution, list management.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- The Promotions Manager should have 5+ years experience in a corporate media, agency or not-for-profit setting--planning and executing promotional events with sponsorship tie-ins.
- S/he must have a strong desire to maintain PlanetOut's print and online vehicles as America's preeminent gay and lesbian marketing partner. RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plan, design, and implement build process, configure and test processes for software components of Release Management for both QA and Production environments.
- Supervise and mentor team of build and release engineers on a day-to-day basis.
